 MISSION STATEMENT:

The Department of Accounting is generally responsible for the fiscal control of the municipality’s finances. Specifically, we manage the City’s human resources and accounts payable. We also formulate through adoption, the General, Water, Sewer and Capital Fund Budgets. We prepare financial statements and compile various reports for the Common Council, Mayor, New York State Comptroller and the Federal Government.

DEPARTMENT DIVISIONS:

The Administrative Division has overall responsibility over the Department, as well as manages the City’s acquisition, recording and liquidation of municipal debt, maintain the City’s Fixed Assets records and prepare and monitor the budget, general ledger and financial statements.

The Human Resource Division processes and audits the payroll, maintains personnel files, coordinates with Civil Service and administers the employee fringe benefit programs.

The Accounts Payable Division processes encumbrances, audits and prepares the warrant of vouchers, for approval by the Mayor and Common Council, records revenues and assists in monitoring the operating budgets.
